Just a Quick Update

Since I've only posted once this whole month, I figured I better at least do one other post to get caught up on what has been going on. I want to make sure that I don't forget the little details as Kaylee is growing up because I want to be able to look back and remember everything.

We have finally started to get things organized in our new place but at the same time, we still have so much to do! Kaylee's room is done except for organizing her closet and doing a little touch up painting, our room is a disaster (we haven't even started on it) and I still haven't got my desktop computer setup...partly because I have no idea where I'm going to put it. I feel so unorganized and I'm behind on everything which is driving me crazy!

My goal is to at least have my desktop computer setup by the beginning of August so that it will be easier for me to post on here. Just to document some things that are going on in Kaylee's world... she now has 8 teeth! Her top center (right) tooth... I'm sure there's a specific word for that tooth but I don't know it... came through on the 19th and then the one beside it came in the next day on the 20th (note to self: write this in the baby book that hasn't been updated in months)!

It's almost impossible to get anything done here lately because she is everywhere! She is constantly crawling or standing up and walking along the furniture. She has already started the temper tantrum stage... I can put my hand on her shoulder and say "no" and she will completely melt down! She also has extra interest in certain things around the house. She likes to crawl into the bathroom and pull herself up on the side of the tub, and grab either her bottle of shampoo (which she likes to carry around the house) or she tries to grab my razor... apparently she feels the need to shave at 11 months old :)

She still has her obsession over my phone and the remote but now she also crawls as fast as she can towards my flip flops anytime she sees them. She won't bother my other shoes...just the flip flops... I don't get it!

Last night she had regular milk for the first time. I am almost out of formula so instead of buying more I decided now was a good time to switch her over. There are certain things that I can say that I know she understands... anytime I ask her if she wants to go for a car ride she gets a big smile on her face and will hold her hands up if I walk toward her. She also understands when I ask her if she wants to take a bath. She gets so excited and sometimes will follow me to the bathroom to watch me fill up her tub. I also usually tell her to give her baby doll or her little bear 'lovin' when I hand them to her and she will hug them really tight and give them kisses. She will also give herself kisses when she sees her reflection.

For some reason yesterday she was really clingy when it was time for her afternoon nap and especially at bed time. She normally lays down and won't fuss at all but last night as soon as Daniel laid her down she started crying. After a few minutes of trying to get her to calm down while in her crib I decided to pick her up and rock her for a little bit. She laid her head on my shoulder and wrapped her arms around me. It was the sweetest thing!

After sitting there for a little while I tried to put her back in bed and as soon as I stood up she wrapped her arms around me and held on as tight as she could. She finally relaxed a little bit but squeezed tightly again when I tried to lay her down. I hate not knowing if something is bothering her or if she just wants to be held. She usually is too busy to have time for anyone to hold her so the few times when she wants to be held are so sweet!

Here are some pictures taken the last 2 times Kaylee's Grandma & Great Grandma came up to visit. They were able to stay the whole week when we were moving and then came up last weekend to watch Kaylee while Daniel and I went out for our anniversary.

Hanging out at the hotel playing with her toys...she is getting so big!My sweet girl!

The last picture has a story behind it... last Saturday we all went to a store called Kixx in Charlotte to find some shoes for Kaylee now that she is learning how to walk. I had found some shoes online that were super cute (PediPeds) and this was the only place around the carried them. When we got there one of the ladies measured Kaylee's foot and grabbed a pair of the PediPeds to try on... they wouldn't fit. The lady said Kaylee has a wide foot and high arch and that none of the PediPeds would fit.

So they started trying different sizes in every brand of shoe they had. They had to go to shoes with a stiffer sole than the PediPeds just to try to find something big enough! After trying on almost 10 pairs of shoes they found one pair that fit but her toes were right at the end of the shoe so she wouldn't be able to wear them for long and they didn't have the next size up. We ended up leaving the store without any shoes and had to go home and order the right size(6) in the last shoe she tried on.

The picture below is of the shoe that we ended up ordering. It's made by See Kai Run and they have the cutest styles! We will be going back toward the end of August to buy her fall shoes. The lady who runs the store told me we would probably always have to make sure we go shoe shopping at the beginning of each season when they have the most selection and have the extra wide sizes (the regular wide sizes were too small).

It has been such a busy month and I can't believe that in less than 3 weeks my little baby will be 1 year old! I'm excited about celebrating her first birthday but will be sad at the same time. I've enjoyed watching her grow and change every day for the past year and can't wait to see how she changes over these next few months as she learns to walk!

11 Months

Sweet girl, where did my baby go? You are 11 months old... only 1 month away from 1 year and it makes me so sad. Things have been so hectic in our lives over this past month and I feel like I've really dropped the ball on keeping this blog up to date (even with writing this post I'm 2 days late) and somehow I didn't get 1 picture of you on our digital camera. I've taken tons of pictures, as usual, on my phone but never got our camera out to get some better quality ones... that shows you just how crazy things have been but is still no excuse. I will be making up for lost time this month (as soon as I find the box that my camera is packed up in)! Your day to day routine really hasn't changed much over the past month but you, as a person, have changed a lot! Like I do every month, here's what you've been up to:

  • Just like the past few months, you are still in size 4 diapers in the Target brand. In Pampers you are in a size 5.

  • You still get 8 oz of formula 3 times per day, but now you drink out of your sippy cup in the morning and at midday... then you will drink your juice out of it at night after supper, but we still give you a bottle before bed. It's kind of a way to hold on to you being a baby for just another month...then we will probably switch you over to a sippy cup at night as well... and I will be sad!
  • You are still doing great with eating solid foods and will eat thicker foods now. I just got some new recipes that I plan on making for you this week. You are such a good eater and will eat anything I give you!

  • You are crawling around everywhere and love to stand up and look around. You can walk as long as you have your hand on something to balance you but I can tell your balance is getting better. There are times where you will stand up and let go of whatever you're holding onto and will stand there for at least 30 seconds without falling!

  • You are still in 12 and 18 month clothes. Your 18 month onesies now look a little big on you. Crawling has definitely thinned you out! I took you to the doctor last week because you had a infection around your toenail (a ingrown nail from where you'd break your toenail from stabbing it into the ground while in your bouncer) and you weighed 28 (almost 29) pounds.

  • Your bedtime has gotten earlier here lately and not by our choice. I think you wear yourself out so much during the day that your 2 naps just aren't enough. Now you go to bed between 7:30 and 8:00... and if we don't have you in bed by then, you are not happy! You are still a little angel when it comes to sleeping. 12 hours exactly every night! You will go to sleep without crying and the stage you were going through last month where you'd wake up a few times after falling asleep has come and gone. Now once you fall asleep you are usually out for the night!

  • You still have 4 teeth on the bottom and now you have 2 teeth on the top. I noticed yesterday that you have 2 more teeth coming in at the same time on the top but you have been handling it great (the only thing I've noticed is your appetite decreases when you're teething.

  • Your reflux seems to be gone! You spit up every now and then but it doesn't seem to be reflux related. And in really good news... I think you've outgrown your apple allergy!!! You are still taking Zegerid at night but the plan is to stop that next month.
  • One of the not so great changes of this past month is your attitude. You will pitch a fit if I tell you no or don't let you have what you want. And when you are hungry, like the other day when your Daddy and I had to meeting at the attorney's office... you start screaming and swinging your arms... pretty much a full blown temper tantrum... it's frustrating but instead of giving in we stick to what we say when we tell you no and hope that this will make things easier when you get older.

Here are a couple of pictures from my phone from the past month:

My sweet happy baby! You love playing in Mommy & Daddy's bed!

You love looking at yourself in the mirror and will give yourself kisses... too sweet!

My sneaky little baby... always getting into things!

As always baby girl, your Daddy & I love you so much and we want nothing but the best for you in life. We look forward to celebrating your first birthday next month and celebrating how far we have come over the last year!

Love,

Mommy
